February FLY OF THE MONTH: Frenchie

There are flies you have that work on specific rivers for specific hatches, and then there are flies that will work on any creek, stream, or river in the world. The Frenchie is a go-to fly when approaching any body of water, because it doesn’t specifically mimic one particular fly; it mimics almost everything. The Frenchie really became popular when Euro-nymphing was first introduced and the typical pheasant tail was remade into a jig style nymph with a hot spot. This one fly soared in popularity with the success it brought to anglers; even faster than the practice of Euro-nymphing itself. Now it is a welcomed addition into our sport, with everyone sure to have a few in their box.
