Interested
in fly fishing for bonefish in Belize, or
permit in Ascension Bay, or some other exotic
species and or location? Who isn’t?
The staff at The Idaho Angler has a great
deal of experience in exotic fishing travel,
and we can help you experience it.
In fact,
we love to talk about it, so if you are interested,
give us a call.
We help
Idaho Angler clients travel in two ways:
First,
we have relationships with a number of lodges,
and we can book your trip to those lodges,
and otherwise assist you with your trip.
Second,
The Idaho Angler, each year, conducts a few
“hosted”
group trips. On a “hosted trip,”
one of the Idaho Angler principals or staff
organizes and leads the trip, to include six
to twelve (depending on the trip) Idaho Angler
clients on the trip. In addition to the fun
of traveling to fish an exotic location for
exotic species with a group of fly fishers,
the Hosted Trip offers the advantage of having
an experienced Idaho Angler staff member leading
the trip available to assist you in preparation
for the trip and with tackle and fishing questions
during the trip.
Following
are some of the travel destinations we recommend
and book. Contact us
for more information.

Located
at the south edge of Ascension Bay, Yucatan,
Mexico, on a small island, far away from the
tourist trails, this is a premier saltwater
destination. Plentiful bonefish, and one of
the best permit locations in the world. Tarpon
and snook are also available. This is an American
owned, classy, comfortable lodge.

On an island off the coast of Belize. Also
American owned and operated, with a very comfortable
classy lodge. Relatively easy to catch and
plentiful bonefish, a great permit fishery,
and tarpon too.

Classic, famous bonefish location with miles
of easily wadable flats, but increasingly
popular for its giant trevally fishing. Consistent
year round weather and fishing. New smaller
lodge with excellent guides. This is a good
trip for the first time saltwater angler or
the experienced angler.

This
is a captivating island lodge miles off the
coast of Venezuela. Miles of classic bonefish
wading flats in an incredibly beautiful setting.
Los Roques is a classic atoll. Large (4 to
6 pound) bonefish are common, and much larger
fish (the lodge record is 13 pounds) are around.
Prime time: March – October.

On the Agua Boa River, a clear water tributary
to the Amazon River, this is a truly classy
fishing operation. Peacock bass fishing in
clear water, with plenty of large fish. An
incredible jungle with wildlife all around
you. You’ll never forget the howler
monkeys (or the explosive fights of the bass).

Flyrodding for sailfish is a real rush, as
the fish is teased to within casting distance
and you shoot the huge fly to the excited
fish. Quepos, Costa Rica is a truly charming
spot, and the sailfishing out of Quepos is
extraordinary. Also a great location for new
fishing companies.

One
of the finest steelhead locations anywhere,
with great runs of huge fish, classic fly
water, and great guides. Fishing on more than
80 miles of river with pristine canyon overnight
stays. Spey rods, skating, flies, and BIG
steelhead. We love this place.

We can book a number of lodges for rainbows
and/or salmon. Tell us what you’re interested
in, and we’ll make some recommendations.
Alaska lodges come in all shapes and sizes,
some excellent, some pretty bad. We only work
with quality lodges that cater to fly fishermen.
