Casa Blanca is a great fishing destination,
with excellent fishing for bonefish, permit,
tarpon, and snook. This is a trip we recommend
for anglers of all skill levels. The bonefishing
can be relatively easy, and is a great way
for the beginner to get into saltwater fishing.
The permit are always a challenge for even
the most skilled angler, a grand slam is a
real possibility. The fishing for permit and
snook is extraordinary!
Fishing
is from modern Dolphin flats skiffs with poling
platforms. The guides are excellent, well-trained,
and English speaking. There are miles and
miles of firm white sand bottomed flats. Bonefishing
is either by wading or from poled skiffs.
The tarpon, snook, and permit fishing is generally
from poled skiffs.
Casa
Blanca Lodge is located on the southern edge
of Ascension Bay, in the center of a protected
1.5 million acre Biosphere Reserve. There
are several Mayan ruins on the island that
are worth visiting. The lodge itself is very
comfortable and well run. The rooms are large
(with hot water showers). The palapa next
to the dining room is a wonderful open-air
gathering place after fishing, for cocktails,
hors d’oeuvres, and stories.
