Fall
and winter on our local tailwaters means small
bugs. This month we feature two of our favorite
dry flies for this time of the year.
When the weather
takes a turn for the worst most people think
only of saying home, where it’s warm
and dry. Trout, however, are anything but
lethargic, regularly picking tiny dries from
the surface. These hatches are not always
a sure thing and do not follow a daily schedule
as to when the hatch will begin or end. Typically
a day of nymphing will be interrupted from
time to time with sudden flurries of these
bugs. One can only keep a sharp eye for their
emergence and hope they might be in the right
place at the right time.
